Godzilla Mashup, Alamo City Toy Show and Store update

Happy Monday everyone! Had a fun time at ‪Alamo City Toy Show this weekend. Just updating the store stock and prices. I've sold out of my‪ Wonder Woman print to this badass of a guy. Also, only one Batgirl prints left as well. ‪My Godzilla Mashup and Chun-Li prints are also up on the store. Check it out if you didn't get a chance to make it out. I’ll be working on commissions from the show soon and post about that stuff too.

Happy 2012 and new art!

Happy new year to everyone! This year is looking to be very awesome. The new game I'm working on should be announcing pretty soon, I'll let you know when it does because i'm excited about it myself.

Lets start off with a painting I worked on last month. Yep I did art during the holiday! This was really fun to do. I've had this idea in my sketchbook for a long time coming about my Project Henshin series. Yes I know it's very Marko Djurdjević inspired. Big fan of his work. This was certainly challenging and ambitious and I ran into few snags and frustrations but kept at it and learned a bit about composition, lighting, edging and what does and doesn't work well for print media.

Next up, I think I'm gonna try the Pulp Art challenge over at ArtOrder blog. I'm really excited about that one. Till next time friends!

Some Henshin work

Hey everyone! Exciting and hectic(but good) things are happening but I'll talk about that when I sign some papers :) For now here are some pieces I was working on while job hunting. I plan to do more key frame painting samples for Project Henshin and character/enemy designs catered for a more animated cartoon style which I think works well for the project.

Update of sorts

Hey everyone, just updating the artblog with some Project Henshin stuff and random sketches. I'm working on an ashcan saddle stitched sketchbook for a local comic convention coming up this fall. Also thinking about doing character sketches at the con of whatever characters, superheroes, anime or even your personal mmo characters. Anything's cool. Also thinking of selling prints as well but I'm not sure which images to sell. Any recommendations are from you all are appreciated.

Oh and yes, its my rendition of the gold ranger gasp not gold ranger. My homage to my favorite design from back in the day. I had a fanboy jump on my ass for calling something power ranger like but not looking like a cardboard box robot. So, its a thin line to say ranger i guess, transforming-superhero-mechanical-suit-people! My version he isn't a hero either...yet. So go figure.

Another tease

Hey everyone, here's another desktop look at what I have on my plate for my personal project. Lately the freelance has been happily rolling in finally and well bills will get paid so that makes me a happy boy. Things are getting closer and closer to a big thread of Henshin art!

How many are there? Lets kill em all!

There always seems to be a plentiful amount of cronies or goons to fight in tokusatsu sentai shows for sure. My concept would be zombie astronauts and civilians, or rather bits and pieces put together after the alien invasion. I wanted something scary and leathal to civilians but fun for the rangers to battle and not exert too much effort, they are of course just mindless zombies. They also extend their apendages like Mr. Fantastic somewhat and almost turn into a massive wave of darkness at some points of the story flooding the rangers in epic battleness. Also, i could help but make murloc sounds while working on them lol. The big boy up there is more of a tank version patroling down the streets reigning terror and processing up more bodies for assimilation. And I reworked the hangar bay shaft scene to show the goons infiltrating it.

Mecha-Zord hangar bay using Sketch-up

I thought I'd try to use Sketch-up for my environments and It turned out well I think. You really cant tell but it helped get past the perspective mental roadblock I usually get when working out rooms and environments, I think I could get used to Sketch Up. Anyways, here's another piece for my Project Henshin, a decommissioned Mecha-Zord hangar bay. yeah, thats just a preview of whats to come baby.
